Free Marc

by Castulo Zane

Marc Emery is doing time in the US. His crime was selling marijuana seeds online from Canada to the States. He was charged by the US government along with two of his employees. Because he agreed to take the whole rap and didn't fight extradition his employees were let go.

Marc is a long time marijuana activist and entrepreneur. He has run for mayor of Vancouver. He opened a very successful store to sell his product online and over the counter. He has operated in the open, never hidden nor denied what he does and has made a point of paying his taxes.

That someone in the US government took umbrage at Marc Emery's activities isn't a surprise. He funneled lots of money into the legalization movement. That angered some in power and they went after him.

American power can be used in mysterious ways. Federally they are very anti-marijuana. On a state level they are much more tolerant. You could say that the country is a bit bit of a legal self contradiction.

There is a program in the US called "We The People". It allows people to send a petition to the president requesting that he pardon people like Emery. The petition requires 5,000 signatures in one month. The Free Marc Emery program got that many in a little over a week.

The minimum requirement is 5,000 signatures, but there is no maximum. Google Marc Emery and sign the petition. Please add your support by signing the petition to pardon Marc Emery. Find out more about Marc Emery and his legal travails at FreeMarc.ca.

Take advantage of the "We The People" program to tell the bureaucrats in the DEA that the war on drugs has been lost. It has been a waste of time and money. Like prohibition, they can't win.

Anti-Marijuana forces like to claim that marijuana is evil. There is little evidence to support this claim. There is, however, lots of evidence to suggest that alcohol, tobacco and legal pharmaceutical drugs kill people everyday. Just look at the grocery store newstand and remember Heath Ledger, Micheal Jackson and Amy Winehouse. Why go after marijuana?
